Hydrocarbon analyzer
Hydrocarbon analysis used in the HC51M nitrogen production unit is to measure the hydrocarbons in the produced nitrogen. This device uses flame ionization detection and has many benefits due to the use of modern technology. This device requires very limited equipment and maintenance.
The sample is taken by a 6 mm diameter Teflon tube connected to the back of the device by an internal pump. This device requires a hydrogen cylinder source that can supply twice the inlet hydrogen under pressure, as well as a hydrocarbon and moisture-free air source called zero air at the twice-inlet air inlet.
This analyzer can measure the amount of hydrocarbons in the sample plus methane or just the amount of methane. The amount measured by a LCD is displayed on the front panel.
Flame ionization detector is a type of detector that is mostly used to analyze organic compounds. The high sensitivity of the linear band field and the convenience of its use make this type of detector ideal for calculating hydrocarbons.
The mechanism of ionization of organic matter in the flame is done in two ways:
- Breaking of organic compounds in the center of the ray and formation of CH3 / CH2 / CH radicals
- Chemical ionization in contact with oxygen through the reaction CH 0 + O → CH 0 + e –
The molar response is defined in terms of the number of carbon atoms in Mercury. The electrons in the flame are drawn using a given voltage between the noozzle and the collecting electrode. The current from the electrode is converted to voltage by a high-sensitivity amplifier. The generated analog electrical signal is converted to digital when it enters the microprocessor. The FID detector sends a signal commensurate with the number of atoms that make up the hydrocarbon molecules in the sample.
