What is ISO 4210?
ISO 4210 defines safety terms and definitions and performance requirements for the design, assembly and testing of saddle bicycles and sub-assemblies. It also sets out the manufacturer’s instructions for using and caring for such bikes.
New specifications for e-bikes have just been released.
Perhaps one of the biggest problems with pollution is the use of electric bicycles. The industry is growing rapidly. Even before the coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic, sales were on the rise. People not only wanted to avoid public transportation, they just wanted to get out.
Recognizing the need for this industry, ISO has recently introduced a new technical specification dedicated to the safety of electric bicycles to be able to step in the right direction of technology. ISO / TS 4210-10, Safety requirements for bicycles – Part 10: Safety requirements for bicycles under the influence of electricity (EPAC), regulate different countries to meet internationally agreed requirements to ensure their safety .
“Global concerns about the environmental impact of automobiles in the industry have been driving the industry for some time, and technologies have evolved rapidly in response to the industry,” said Shinji Yoshimura, an ISO working group consultant who prepared the document.
By gathering international expertise to provide a set of standard requirements, the industry can grow even further, given the safety of the user.
ISO / TS 4210-10 is the newest in the ten-part ISO series on the bike, and 9 other standards are updated in this series:
ISO 4210-2, Bicycles – Safety requirements for bicycles – Part 2: Requirements for cycling in the city and hiking, mountain and racing adult bicycles
ISO 4210-3, Bicycles – Safety requirements for bicycles – Part 3: Common test methods.
