The new standard enables organizations to share the best performance for greater energy efficiency .
Implementing an energy management system (EnMS) can bring many benefits, including cost savings and energy. If this standard is implemented in several organizations, it will bring more benefits. The energy management system allows the sharing of knowledge, resources as well as cooperation in energy saving projects in organizations of any type and size. These include small businesses.
ISO 50009: 2021, energy management systems, is a guide to implementing a shared energy management system across multiple organizations , aimed at uniting organizations that have common elements such as energy supply to collectively optimize energy at any size.
EnMS is an energy management framework that includes organizational policies, goals, programs, and performance metrics. The expansion of this system in several organizations allows cooperation and common goals, which ultimately leads to greater energy savings.
“ISO 50009 is flexible enough to be used in any situation that organizations want,” said Shigaki Sakamoto, head of the standards team. ISO 50009 shares a common goal for energy efficiency in different parts of a large company or group of small companies.
